HYDERABAD: Manda Krishna Madiga, founder president of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS), has urged the Telangana government to correct serious flaws in the Scheduled Castes (SC) sub-classification report. Speaking to the media on Wednesday, he argued that the report fails to ensure justice for all 59 SC castes and needs a thorough reassessment.
Concerns Over Omission and Bias
Madiga strongly criticized the D-group’s omission from the sub-classification. He alleged that the report favors selective interests instead of ensuring fair distribution. According to him, the process should follow scientific and objective criteria to guarantee equal representation.
Criticism of the Government’s Approach
The MRPS leader also questioned why the government rushed the report into the state assembly without a cabinet sub-committee review. He raised concerns about possible political motives behind this move.
Additionally, he pointed out that the announcement coincided with the planned ‘Lakh Dappu, Veligottulu’ event on March 7, leading to its cancellation. He suggested that this timing aimed to disrupt the program intentionally.
Demand for Data-Driven Policy
Madiga called for a detailed socio-economic study of all SC communities before the government proceeds with implementation. He stressed that reservation policies must rely on data-driven analysis to ensure fair opportunities for marginalized sections.
His appeal underscores the ongoing debate over caste-based reservations in Telangana and the urgent need for inclusive policies that address disparities within SC communities.
