HYDERABAD: Municipal authorities in Hyderabad have begun removing flex banners installed across the city as part of former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s (KCR) birthday celebrations. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) staff was seen taking down the banners from various locations on Monday.
According to officials, the action was taken as part of routine enforcement against unauthorised hoardings and flex banners in public spaces. However, the removal has drawn attention in political circles, with some supporters of KCR questioning the move.
Over the past few days, several banners and posters wishing KCR on his birthday were placed across Hyderabad by his followers and party members. Municipal authorities have stated that similar action is taken against all unauthorised banners, irrespective of political affiliation.
The issue has sparked discussions, with some BRS leaders alleging that the move was politically motivated, while officials maintain that it is a standard procedure to ensure city regulations are followed.
