Hyderabad: A broad daylight murder attempt in Suryapet district created panic on Friday when unidentified assailants chased three people, including two women, on a busy road.
The victims, who were travelling on a two-wheeler from Khammam Cross Road in Suryapet, noticed a car with five men following them. Sensing danger, they sped up but were intercepted near BB Gudem. In a desperate attempt to escape, the trio abandoned their vehicle and rushed into a nearby wine shop.
Murder attempt in Suryapet sparks panic
The attackers got out of the car, carrying knives and sticks and charged towards the shop. However, customers inside noticed the commotion and stepped out suddenly, forcing the gang to retreat. Alarmed by the crowd gathering at the spot, the assailants fled the scene in their car.
Police said the victims escaped unhurt. The incident, which unfolded in full public view, triggered fear in the town.
