Hyderabad: The flood situation in Musi River eased on Sunday following a drop in inflows from the twin reservoirs—Himayat Sagar and Osman Sagar.
Officials reported that water release into the Musi had reduced significantly as flood levels in both reservoirs came down. As a result, the river’s intensity weakened, allowing water to pass under the Chaderghat lower bridge.
However, authorities have not yet opened the bridge for traffic. It remains shut due to accumulated debris and slush. The surface turned slippery after the bridge went underwater on Friday evening. At the peak, floodwaters had flowed 10 feet above the bridge.
Musi River flood disrupts traffic at Chaderghat
Currently, only the upper bridge at Chaderghat is open for vehicles. This has led to heavy traffic jams in the area, with vehicles stalled from Koti to Chaderghat.
Meanwhile, inflow into Osman Sagar has slowed to 1,100 cusecs. Outflow has been adjusted to 884 cusecs. The reservoir now holds 3.65 TMC against its full capacity of 3.9 TMC.
Similarly, inflow into Himayat Sagar stood at 4,000 cusecs, while outflow was slightly lower at 3,963 cusecs. Current storage is 2.64 TMC, compared to the full level of 2.97 TMC.
