MY Bharat NSS Awards spotlight youth leadership and community impact nationwide
Launched in 1969, the National Service Scheme remains a Central Sector Scheme that shapes student character through service. Its ideological roots draw from Mahatma Gandhi’s values. Therefore, the motto “Not Me, But You” guides volunteers to put others first. At present, about 40 lakh volunteers serve on NSS rolls across India.
NSS volunteers tackle evolving local needs through regular and special camping activities. They advance literacy and education. They support health, family welfare, and nutrition. Moreover, volunteers drive environmental conservation and run social service programmes. They promote women’s empowerment and assist economic development activities. In addition, they join rescue and relief efforts during calamities. Finally, they lead Swachhata activities that keep communities clean and resilient.
The MY Bharat NSS Awards 2022-23 underlined a national message. When young people organise, communities change faster. As a result, the programme deepens civic spirit while improving daily life.
