MY Bharat NSS Awards

New Delhi: President of India Droupadi Murmu presented the MY Bharat NSS Awards for 2022-23 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The ceremony honoured exemplary voluntary service by students and mentors across the country. Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment Dr Mansukh Mandaviya attended. Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports Smt. Raksha Nikhil Khadse joined him. Senior officials, including Secretary Youth Affairs Dr Pallavi Jain Govil and Secretary Sports Shri Hari Ranjan Rao, were also present.

The Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, confers these awards every year. The goal is simple and direct: recognise outstanding community service and motivate wider participation. This year, ten NSS Units and their ten Programme Officers received honors. Additionally, the ministry recognised 30 NSS Volunteers for impactful work at the grassroots.

Each NSS Unit received ₹2,00,000 for programme development and a trophy. Furthermore, every Programme Officer earned ₹1,50,000 with a certificate and a silver medal. Each Volunteer received ₹1,00,000, along with a certificate and a silver medal. Consequently, the awards strengthen local initiatives that need resources and recognition.

MY Bharat NSS Awards

MY Bharat NSS Awards spotlight youth leadership and community impact nationwide

Launched in 1969, the National Service Scheme remains a Central Sector Scheme that shapes student character through service. Its ideological roots draw from Mahatma Gandhi’s values. Therefore, the motto “Not Me, But You” guides volunteers to put others first. At present, about 40 lakh volunteers serve on NSS rolls across India.

NSS volunteers tackle evolving local needs through regular and special camping activities. They advance literacy and education. They support health, family welfare, and nutrition. Moreover, volunteers drive environmental conservation and run social service programmes. They promote women’s empowerment and assist economic development activities. In addition, they join rescue and relief efforts during calamities. Finally, they lead Swachhata activities that keep communities clean and resilient.

The MY Bharat NSS Awards 2022-23 underlined a national message. When young people organise, communities change faster. As a result, the programme deepens civic spirit while improving daily life.
