Hyderabad: Nagarjuna Sagar dam authorities closed the crest gates on Wednesday morning following a drop in water inflows. At 8 a.m., the inflow stood at 51,767 cusecs, prompting the shutdown.
The reservoir currently holds water at a level of 585.90 feet, compared to its full reservoir level of 590 feet. Total water storage is 299.7470 TMC out of a maximum capacity of 312 TMC.
Despite the reduced inflow, officials continued power generation at the main hydroelectric station, releasing 33,416 cusecs. Additionally, the right canal powerhouse discharged 10,000 cusecs, the left canal 5,156 cusecs, the SLBC outlet 2,400 cusecs, and the low-level canal 300 cusecs.
In total, 51,971 cusecs of water is currently being released through various canal systems linked to the reservoir.
