Hyderabad: NALSAR University of Law, in collaboration with Heidelberg University, Germany, will host an international law conclave titled “Dialogue of the Hemispheres: Recent Developments in International Law Regarding the Relationship of Global South and Global North” from October 15 to 17, 2025, at its Hyderabad campus.
NALSAR international law conclave to strengthen global dialogue
The conclave aims to promote cross-continental academic exchange and collaborative legal research. It will also focus on enhancing Indo-German cooperation between scholars, practitioners, and policymakers from both hemispheres. Therefore, the event will serve as a bridge between Global North and South perspectives on evolving international legal challenges.
The three-day event will open with a Postdoctoral Symposium. During the sessions, junior professors and postdoctoral researchers from Germany will engage with Indian scholars on emerging global issues. Key topics will include AI regulation, climate change litigation, corporate law reforms, cross-border surrogacy, and data protection. In addition, experts will examine the growing impact of economic sanctions on international trade.
Experts to discuss evolving legal frameworks
Furthermore, interactive panel discussions will explore new trends in international law and their influence on the Global South. A Law Professors Meet will bring together professors from India and Germany. They will present papers on judicial cooperation, third-world approaches to international law, data protection, and matrimonial conflict laws.
The event is being organised jointly by NALSAR University of Law, Heidelberg University, the German Research Foundation (DFG), and the Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR). Together, the institutions aim to deepen research partnerships and create a long-term academic exchange network.
