Hyderabad: Ten-year-old chess prodigy Nara Devansh received the World Book of Records award as the fastest checkmate solver after completing 175 complex puzzles in record time. He accepted the award at Westminster Hall in London.
Devansh, son of Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh, solved the puzzles drawn from Laszlo Polgar’s classic chess book 5334 Problems and Games. These increasingly difficult puzzles formed part of the Checkmate Marathon held last year. By completing them in the shortest recorded time, he secured global recognition.
Minister Lokesh, who attended the event, praised his son’s focus, precision, and discipline under pressure. “This is a proud moment for our family. Devansh’s hard work and vision at such a young age are inspiring,” he said.
His mother Nara Brahmani and coach K. Rajasekhar Reddy played key roles in his achievement. Previously, Devansh had set two world records: solving the 7-disc Tower of Hanoi in 1 minute and 43 seconds, and arranging 32 chess pieces across 9 boards in 5 minutes.
