Hyderabad: A newlywed woman died by suicide just six days after her marriage following a quarrel with her husband in Jagtial district’s Ibrahimpatnam mandal.
Police identified the victim as Allepu Gangotri, 22, of Erdandi village. She had married Santosh, from the same village, on September 26 after a long courtship. Families of both sides consented to the wedding, which took place in the presence of elders.
Newlywed suicide in Jagtial after quarrel with husband
On October 2, during Dasara celebrations, Gangotri went to her maternal home along with her husband. Police said the couple argued over a minor issue during dinner. Later that night, they returned to her in-laws’ house. After midnight, while the family slept, Gangotri hanged herself.
Her mother, Sharada, alleged that the quarrel with her husband led to the suicide and also suspected harassment in her in-laws’ home. Acting on the complaint, police registered a case of suspicious death and launched an investigation. The incident cast a pall of grief over the village.
