Hyderabad: A 19-year-old newlywed woman died by suicide in Telangana’s Khammam district late Saturday, allegedly after repeated harassment by her husband and in-laws.
The incident occurred in Sale Banjara village, where the woman, identified as Poojitha, was found hanging at her residence. Police said she was married on April 16 to Srinivas, a jewellery showroom salesman from the same locality.
According to the complaint, Srinivas and his family repeatedly taunted Poojitha over a past incident where she had consumed a soft drink with relatives. They allegedly accused her of inappropriate behaviour and subjected her to mental harassment.
Unable to cope with the pressure, she ended her life by hanging herself at home. Police have registered a case and opened an investigation into the death.
