Hyderabad: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Tuesday held a high-level meeting with senior Telangana government officials at Dr. MCR HRD Institute, Jubilee Hills, as part of its two-day camp sitting in the state.
The session was chaired by NHRC Chairperson Justice V. Ramasubramanian and attended by Commission Members Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi and Vijaya Bharati Sayani. Telangana Human Rights Commission Chairperson Justice Dr. Shameem Akhtar also took part in the deliberations.
The NHRC reviewed the state’s approach to human rights governance, focusing on institutional response, delivery of welfare schemes, law enforcement sensitivity, and protection of vulnerable groups.
Key NHRC officials, including Secretary General Bharat Lal, DG (Investigation) R.P. Meena, Deputy Registrar (Law) Indrajeet, Dr. Mukesh, and SSP Ilakkiya Karunagaran (IPS), participated in the discussions.
Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao led the Telangana delegation, joined by top administrative, law enforcement, and departmental officers.
The Commission sought updates on long-pending cases, state compliance with NHRC recommendations, and progress in reducing rights violations across sectors.
Officials also discussed inter-agency coordination to strengthen grievance redressal and accountability mechanisms.
