Nirmala Sitharaman highlights Telangana’s economic situation in Rajya Sabha
Hyderabad, February 13: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made key remarks in the Rajya Sabha regarding the economic condition of Telangana, expressing concerns over the state’s financial management and increasing debt burden.
Speaking in the Upper House, Sitharaman alleged that Telangana’s economy has been mismanaged, with rising debts putting a strain on the state’s financial stability. She pointed out that despite receiving significant funds from the Centre, the state government’s handling of resources has been questionable.
The Finance Minister also referred to the loans acquired by the Telangana government, stating that the rising fiscal deficit could impact the state’s future economic growth. She urged for greater transparency and accountability in financial planning.
Her comments have sparked a political debate, with Congress and BRS leaders reacting strongly. While the Telangana government maintains that its economic policies are aimed at welfare and development, opposition parties argue that misgovernance and excessive borrowing have led to financial distress.
