Hyderabad: Nita Ambani, wife of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, has donated ₹1 crore to the Balkampet Yellamma temple in Hyderabad.
The amount was transferred directly to the temple’s bank account. According to temple officials, the donation followed a visit in April by Ambani’s mother Purnima and sister Mamata Dalal, during which they were briefed about the temple’s significance and ongoing development needs. The request for support was conveyed to Nita Ambani, who responded by contributing the amount for temple development.
The temple committee has decided to place the donation in a fixed deposit. Interest accrued will be used to fund the temple’s daily Nityannadanam (free meal) programme.
Temple authorities expressed gratitude to the Ambani family for the contribution. Nita Ambani is known to be a regular visitor to the temple whenever she is in Hyderabad.
