Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Wednesday caught a senior assistant, who was also holding charge as revenue inspector at Nizamabad Municipal Corporation, while accepting a bribe of ₹7,000 from a complainant.
Nizamabad municipal officer caught taking bribe
The accused officer was identified as Karna Srinivas Rao, senior assistant and in-charge revenue inspector. According to ACB, he had initially demanded ₹10,000, but later agreed to accept ₹7,000 for processing a Vehicle Location Tracking (VLT) file, allotting a VLT number, and ensuring that the complainant’s shop functioned smoothly without future problems.
Officials said the tainted bribe amount of ₹7,000 was recovered from the officer’s possession. He acted “improperly and dishonestly in discharge of his duties to obtain undue advantage,” the ACB statement noted.
Accused produced before ACB court
The officer was arrested and is being produced before the II Additional Special Judge for Trial of SPE & ACB Cases, Nampally Court, Hyderabad. The case remains under investigation.
The ACB appealed to the public to report bribery demands through its toll-free number 1064, WhatsApp (9440446106), Facebook page (Telangana ACB), or X/Twitter handle (@TelanganaACB). It assured that the identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
