Hyderabad: The Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) under the National Medical Commission (NMC) has made it mandatory for all medical colleges across the country to include cadaver details in their annual declarations. The directive was issued on Friday, highlighting the need for strict compliance.
The NMC pointed out that several colleges had not been providing details regarding cadavers and stated that going forward, institutions must clearly report the exact number of cadavers available.
First-year MBBS students are required to perform dissections as part of their anatomy curriculum. Ideally, one cadaver should be available for every group of 12 to 20 students. However, due to an insufficient number of body donations, many medical colleges in the state are facing a shortage of cadavers.
