Hyderabad: The nomination process for the Jubilee Hills bypoll started on Monday morning. Several candidates filed their papers soon after the Election Commission released the official notification. The contest has already turned lively, with independent candidates entering the race along with major political parties.
Independent candidates file first nominations
Independent aspirant Pesarikayala Parikshit Reddy submitted the first nomination for the Jubilee Hills bypoll. Soon after, Siliveru Srikanth filed two sets of nominations as an independent candidate. Their participation brought early excitement to the political scene in the upscale constituency.
Party workers gathered at local offices as the nomination process gained momentum. Congress nominated Naveen Yadav, while BRS chose Maganti Sunitha, the wife of late MLA Maganti Gopinath. However, the BJP has not yet announced its candidate for the by-election.
Independents add twist to political contest
The entry of multiple independents has sparked fresh curiosity among voters. Observers say their presence could change vote dynamics in several divisions. If many independents stay in the contest until polling day, they may influence the final result by splitting votes.
The Jubilee Hills bypoll has turned into a three-cornered fight between Congress, BRS, and BJP. Independent candidates are likely to play a key role in determining who gains or loses ground. The outcome will be known on November 14, when the votes are counted.
