Hyderabad: Nursery Mela at People’s Plaza on Necklace Road drew large crowds this weekend, showcasing rare species, exotic plants, and ornamental varieties from across India. The exhibition, set against the Hussain Sagar backdrop, turned into a major attraction for city residents.

Organisers said stalls featured indoor and outdoor plants, bonsai, creepers, water lilies, exotic flowers, garden tools, pots, and stands. Visitors explored medicinal plants, foreign fruit species, ornamental varieties, and hybrid seedlings. Exhibitors displayed rare collections, including rudraksha, hibiscus, bay leaf, and urban forestry models.
Growers from Andhra Pradesh, Kolkata, Delhi, Haryana, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Shirdi, Kadiyam, Chennai, and West Bengal participated in the mela. A special stall from Kalimpong in West Bengal, displaying exotic plants, emerged as the key attraction.
The mela drew strong interest from homemakers, youth, and plant lovers keen to start or expand gardens. Crowds packed People’s Plaza as buyers picked plants for homes and balconies. According to the in-charge Khalid Ahmed, the show would remain open until Monday.
