HYDERABAD: Objectionable comments against the Speaker led to statewide protests organized by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Sunday. As part of the protest, the Hanumakonda District Congress Party staged a dharna (sit-in demonstration). The event was attended by Congress MLA Naini Rajender Reddy and several district Congress leaders.
During the protest, Congress leaders strongly condemned the behavior of former ministers K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) and Jagadish Reddy. Slogans were raised against the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leadership, and effigies of BRS Working President KTR and former minister Jagadish Reddy were set on fire.
Addressing the gathering, Naini Rajender Reddy stated that the Speaker’s decision to suspend BRS MLA Jagadish Reddy from the Assembly was taken according to the rules. He criticized the BRS leaders for their remarks against the Speaker and accused them of disrespecting the legislative process.
The Congress MLA further alleged that the previous BRS government had indulged in large-scale corruption and mismanagement. He asserted that the people of Telangana had rejected the BRS in the last elections due to its anti-democratic actions. He emphasized that the Congress government was committed to upholding democratic values and ensuring accountability in governance.
The protest ended with a call for strict action against those making derogatory remarks against constitutional authorities.
