Hyderabad: Authorities lifted the Osman Sagar Himayat Sagar gates on Friday to release excess water into the Musi River following heavy rainfall in upstream areas. Officials said both reservoirs had reached near full capacity.
Gates opened at both reservoirs
At Himayat Sagar, four gates were opened, each discharging water at three feet. At Osman Sagar, 10 gates were lifted, releasing water at six feet. The discharge is being closely monitored to prevent downstream flooding.
Water levels near full tank capacity
The water level at Himayat Sagar stood at 1762.80 feet against a full tank level of 1763.50 feet. Osman Sagar recorded 1789.30 feet against a full tank level of 1790 feet.
Caution issued to residents
Authorities alerted residents living along the Musi River to stay cautious. Rajendranagar police closed the Outer Ring Road service road due to rising water levels.
