HYDERABAD, February 7: An outsourcing employee named Srinivas, working at the BC Welfare Office in Hyderabad, was arrested on Friday by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh.
According to reports, an individual approached Srinivas seeking assistance with a particular issue. Srinivas allegedly demanded ₹1 lakh to process the request. Unwilling to pay the bribe, the individual reported the matter to ACB officials.
Acting on the complaint, ACB officials devised a plan to apprehend Srinivas. The complainant met Srinivas at the BC Welfare Office and handed over the bribe amount, as instructed by the ACB. Immediately after the transaction, ACB officials intervened and arrested Srinivas, recovering the bribe money from his possession.
Authorities suspect that other individuals may be involved in similar activities within the office. An investigation is underway to identify any additional accomplices. The ACB has recommended departmental action against Srinivas and has registered a case to initiate further proceedings.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about corruption within government offices and underscores the importance of vigilance and prompt reporting of such activities by citizens.
