Hyderabad, February 4: Around 200 Village Revenue Assistants (VRAs) gathered at the Ministers’ Quarters in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, on Tuesday, demanding reinstatement into their positions. The protest resulted in tense moments in the area.
Organised by the VRA Joint Action Committee, the protesters attempted to lay siege to the Ministers’ Quarters. Holding placards and raising slogans, they squatted on the road, leading to a standoff with the police.
The protesters pressed for the issuance of job notifications for heirs of VRAs aged over 61, citing Government Orders 81 and 85. They expressed frustration over not being allowed to meet ministers to discuss their concerns.
The demonstration caused heavy traffic congestion, prompting police intervention to restore order. The VRAs have been protesting for several months, alleging unfulfilled promises regarding employment and job orders for eligible heirs.
Authorities have yet to issue an official response. The situation remains tense, with protesters continuing to insist on immediate government action.
