Hyderabad: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday disputed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s praise of the RSS. He said no RSS member gave his life or went to jail during the freedom struggle.
Speaking at a gathering, Owaisi cited a biography of RSS founder K.B. Hedgewar. He said Hedgewar joined the 1930 Dandi March only to later urge freedom fighters to join the Sangh. “That was not genuine participation,” Owaisi alleged.
Owaisi cites archives, RSS writings to counter Modi’s claim
Owaisi said British records confirmed that RSS workers never fought the British or posed a threat. He added that the RSS magazine Organizer opposed the tricolour in August 1947. It also rejected the Constitution in 1949, calling for Manusmriti instead.
He referred to M.S. Golwalkar’s Bunch of Thoughts, which labeled Christians, Muslims, and the Left as “internal threats.” He said the RSS keeps doubting India’s Muslims, while Hyderabad’s Maulvi Allauddin Rahmatullah became the first to face “Kala Pani” in the Andamans.
Earlier, the Prime Minister praised RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s Vijayadashami address as inspiring. Modi said the speech showed the Sangh’s contributions to nation-building. The RSS, founded in 1925 on Vijayadashami, is observing its centenary year.
Owaisi also commented on the ‘I Love Muhammed’ row in Kanpur. He said no one objects if people say “I love Modi,” but objections rise if they say “I love Muhammed.” Police had earlier booked 24 people for displaying such boards during an Eid-e-Milad procession on September 4.
