Hyderabad: Telangana moved closer to announcing the panchayat election schedule, and officials indicated that the SEC might release it on 26 November. The commission began groundwork because polling could take place in the second week of December. District teams also started revising voter lists for panchayats and wards.
The SEC issued a short schedule for voter list correction. It directed staff to complete the exercise from 20 to 23 November. State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudini instructed district panchayat officers to accelerate the work. She asked them to verify new applications and correct old entries without delay. District teams began visiting villages to complete these tasks.
Panchayat election schedule triggers voter list revision
The panchayat election schedule pushed districts to finish the revision work quickly. On 20 November, field officials checked fresh applications and accepted objections. They planned to settle all pending issues on 21 November. They are also prepared to publish the final voter list and polling station list on 23 November.
Officials said accurate rolls would help districts plan staff movement and election material flow. They added that clear lists also reduced confusion during polling. Each panchayat required specific arrangements, so district units reviewed local conditions throughout the week.
Panchayat election schedule prompts SEC–district coordination
The SEC arranged a video conference with collectors, police commissioners and SPs. Rani Kumudini planned to review local law and order, election readiness and area-specific challenges. She also aimed to assess polling station readiness, staff deployment, observer appointments and material supply. Teams would identify sensitive zones and review model code enforcement.
DGP Shivadhar Reddy, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Principal Secretary Sridhar and several senior officials planned to join the meeting. The SEC said coordinated work across departments would help ensure smooth polling. It also noted that early planning would support rural administrative teams during the election period.
