Hyderabad: The Panchayat Raj department has reported damages worth ₹147.70 crore to rural roads across Telangana following the recent heavy rains. Officials briefed Minister Seethakka on the extent of the losses and shared their restoration plans.
A total of 84.97 km of rural roads under the department were damaged. Preliminary reports show surface damage in 48 locations, where ₹3.32 crore is required for temporary restoration and ₹42.63 crore for permanent repairs.

Damage was also recorded to culverts, low-level causeways, and drainage structures at 77 locations. Officials estimated ₹1.55 crore for temporary restoration and ₹57.60 crore for permanent work. In 30 other spots, roads were breached entirely, needing ₹1.06 crore for quick repairs and ₹5.45 crore for long-term rebuilding.
In total, 124 locations were affected by the rainfall damage. Seethakka said there is no shortage of funds for emergency works. She directed district collectors to use available resources to ensure rural mobility is not disrupted.
