Hyderabad: A panchayat secretary in Nirmal district was caught red-handed by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Tuesday while accepting a bribe of ₹12,000 from a local resident in Godiseral village.
According to ACB officials, the accused, identified as Shiva Krishna, was working as the secretary of Godiseral gram panchayat in Dasturabad mandal. He allegedly demanded ₹12,000 from one Gosukula Rajesham in exchange for granting permission to set up a water plant in the village.
Rajesham approached the ACB after being asked for the bribe. A trap was laid, and officials caught Shiva Krishna while accepting the amount at the panchayat office on Tuesday. The cash was seized on the spot and the accused was taken into custody.
The ACB confirmed that the panchayat secretary is currently being interrogated. Further proceedings are underway.
