Hyderabad: Panic gripped the BPCL petrol pump in Punjagutta’s Errum Manzil area on Monday evening when a car caught fire soon after it arrived for refuelling. No one suffered any injuries.

Police said the vehicle suddenly burst into flames from the engine moments after entering the fuel station. Two passengers sat inside when the fire started.
The driver and another occupant spotted smoke and sparks from the front and jumped out immediately. Petrol pump staff grabbed extinguishers, doused the flames, and pushed the burning car onto the road, stopping a major disaster.
Firefighters act quickly to douse flames
Firefighters rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control within minutes. Their swift action and the quick response of the petrol pump workers prevented an explosion.
Police began an investigation to determine what caused the car fire at the BPCL petrol pump.
