Bagalkot: In a heartwarming gesture that challenges the stigma around academic failure, a couple from Navanagar in Bagalkot district celebrated their son’s Class 10 failure with a cake and words of encouragement. Their son, Abhishek, failed in all six subjects of the SSLC (Class 10) examination, scoring just 200 out of 625 marks.
While the result came as a disappointment, it was the parental response that has drawn admiration. Instead of reprimanding him or reacting harshly—as is often seen in similar situations—the parents chose to cut a cake and organise a small celebration to console and uplift their son. Their message was clear: failure in one exam does not define a person’s worth or future.
Abhishek had reportedly become a target of ridicule among some of his classmates after the results were declared. Observing their son’s distress, his parents stepped in to show unconditional support. “Failing once is not the end. You can write the exams again. There’s nothing to be ashamed of,” they told him.
Their act has since resonated widely on social media, with many applauding the parents for promoting mental health awareness and compassionate parenting in a society that often attaches immense pressure to academic results.
As stories of exam stress and student suicides continue to emerge every year, this incident offers a powerful reminder: kindness, patience, and support at home can make all the difference.
