Hyderabad: The Parliament Monsoon session is set to begin today, with the opposition gearing up to confront the Modi government on a host of politically sensitive issues. The month-long session will continue through August 21.
Leaders from 24 INDIA bloc parties have coordinated a joint strategy to target the Centre over the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindhoor, alleged irregularities in Bihar’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls, Donald Trump’s ceasefire remarks, and the Ahmedabad airport incident.
The agenda for the opening day includes the Prime Minister’s formal address by 10:15 am, tabling of the special committee’s report on the Income Tax Bill, and a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee in the Speaker’s chamber.
Parliament may also initiate discussion on the impeachment process against Justice Verma. Both Houses are expected to pay homage to seven sitting and former MPs who passed away in recent months.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has stated that the government will respond to every issue raised. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has demanded a statement from the Prime Minister on the Pahalgam lapses, Trump’s comments, and irregularities flagged in the Bihar SIR process.
