HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has further extended the tenure of the PC Ghose Commission, which is conducting a judicial inquiry into alleged irregularities in the construction of the Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages under the Kaleshwaram project.
Initially set to conclude its work this month, the Commission’s term has now been extended until 31 May 2025 through a fresh government order issued today. The inquiry body, headed by former Supreme Court judge Justice PC Ghose, was originally appointed in March 2024 with a 100-day mandate to submit its findings.
However, due to the complexity of procedural and evidentiary matters, the inquiry has stretched well beyond the original deadline. This extension marks the latest in a series of moves by the government to ensure a comprehensive investigation into the multi-crore irrigation project.
Sources close to the Commission reveal that nearly 90% of the final report has already been completed. As the inquiry enters its critical phase, it is anticipated that key leaders associated with the previous BRS government may be called for questioning during the concluding stages of the probe.
