Hyderabad: PC Ghosh Commission report violated procedure and due process, former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao told the Telangana High Court on Thursday. The court was hearing petitions filed by KCR and former irrigation minister T Harish Rao, both challenging the commission’s findings on the Kaleshwaram project.
PC Ghosh Commission report violated procedure and due process, argues KCR’s counsel in HC
Senior advocate Aryama Sundaram, representing KCR, argued that the commission ignored legal protocols. It neither served notices nor shared the report with key individuals, including the petitioners. He alleged that the report aimed to damage BRS and its leadership for political reasons.
In contrast, Advocate General A Sudarshan Reddy defended the process. He said the government had released the findings through a press conference, uploaded them online, and used a PowerPoint presentation for clarity. Moreover, a three-member committee was reviewing the report before placing it in the Assembly.
However, the court raised concerns about the premature release of the report. It questioned why the government publicized the findings before tabling them, especially when the petitioners were MLAs. In response, the AG said journalists had received a 60-page version of the report and added that the government was still deciding on future action.
Since the AG requested more time to explain the government’s position, the High Court adjourned the matter to Friday for further hearing.
