Four peacocks found dead near Kalvasrirampur; locals suspect poisoning or fertiliser exposure
Hyderabad: Four peacocks were found dead under unclear circumstances near Pandavulagutta hillocks in Kalvasrirampur mandal in Peddapalli on Sunday, triggering concern among locals and wildlife watchers.
A shepherd discovered the carcasses in agricultural fields and alerted nearby villagers. While the exact cause of death remains uncertain, suspicion has fallen on chemical exposure. Locals pointed to fertiliser pellets commonly used in surrounding farms as a possible factor.
Pandavulagutta is home to an estimated 50 peacocks, which frequently descend into adjacent farmlands in search of food. Wildlife officials had not issued a formal statement at the time of reporting.
