HYDERABAD: A Good Friday beach outing ended in tragedy after two youths were swept away by strong waves at Perupalem Beach in Mogalthur mandal of West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh.
The incident occurred when Uday, a resident of Prakashpalem in Nallajerla mandal, along with another individual, went to the beach to bathe. While they were in the water, powerful tides dragged them deep into the sea.
Police rushed to the spot upon receiving information and launched a rescue operation. Uday was found and immediately shifted to the government hospital in Narsapur. However, the search continues for the second youth, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
The tragic incident cast a pall over the beach area, with locals expressing sorrow that such a misfortune occurred on a festival day. Authorities have intensified search efforts as anxiety grips the community.
