Hyderabad: Petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged on Sunday, despite a recent excise duty hike of ₹2 per litre imposed by the central government. The Ministry of Finance clarified that the revised duty will not impact retail consumers, as oil marketing companies will absorb the additional burden.
The government’s assurance came after rising concerns among vehicle owners, who feared a direct hike in pump prices. While excise rates were increased, officials confirmed that retail pricing would remain stable, easing public apprehension.
Petrol diesel prices remain stable despite tax hike
Petrol and diesel rates have remained steady over the past few months, with no revisions seen even on the 1st of September. Fuel consumers, who had anticipated a price cut or adjustment, were left disappointed by the lack of change.
According to the latest data, the per-litre fuel prices in major Andhra Pradesh and Telangana cities are as follows:
Hyderabad
- Petrol: ₹107.46
- Diesel: ₹95.70
Visakhapatnam
- Petrol: ₹108.38
- Diesel: ₹96.26
Vijayawada
- Petrol: ₹109.02
- Diesel: ₹96.85
Despite the unchanged rates, analysts note that international crude trends and tax policies may still influence future revisions.
