Hyderabad: The Press Information Bureau (PIB) warned citizens about fake SMS alerts sent in the name of India Post. Fraudsters use the messages to steal banking and personal details.
Officials explained that the SMS claims a parcel linked to the recipient’s number failed delivery twice due to an incomplete address. The text asks users to update details within 48 hours through a link, promising quick delivery once the update is done.

PIB fact check confirmed the messages are fake. The bureau said India Post never sends links or requests for personal details through SMS. It urged people to treat such texts as fraud attempts.
Authorities advised citizens to ignore suspicious links and avoid sharing sensitive data. They directed users to verify parcel issues only through official India Post channels. Cybercrime teams asked the public to report scam texts and remain alert as such frauds continue to rise.
