PIL filed in High Court over Hyderabad Metro expansion

HYDERABAD, February 11: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Telangana High Court concerning the expansion of the Hyderabad Metro. The petitioner has raised concerns over delays and alleged irregularities in the metro’s expansion plans.

According to reports, the PIL seeks judicial intervention to ensure timely execution of the metro expansion project, citing its importance for easing urban congestion and improving public transport connectivity. The petition also questions whether the necessary approvals and financial planning have been properly managed.

The Hyderabad Metro, which currently operates across three corridors, has long been expected to extend to key areas such as the Old City and Airport corridor. However, the petitioner claims that despite repeated announcements, there has been no concrete progress in these projects.

The High Court is expected to take up the matter for hearing soon. Further developments on the case and the government’s response to the PIL will determine the future course of action regarding Hyderabad Metro’s expansion.
