HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court has postponed the hearing on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging the allotment of land for caste-based community halls in Khanamet. The PIL was filed by Professor Vinayaka Reddy and lawyer Sunkara Naresh, questioning the government’s land allocation orders.
The petition specifically challenges the allotment of land for the construction of community halls for the Kamma Seva Sangham, Vishwabaliija, and Kapu associations. The petitioners argued that the land allotment Government Order (GO) is legally questionable and have sought its cancellation.
During the previous hearings, the court had issued interim orders preventing any construction on the allocated lands. The petitioners informed the court that, so far, the Vishwabaliija and Kapu associations have not filed their counter-affidavits. In response, the Chief Justice’s bench has granted a final opportunity for them to submit their counters.
Extending the interim orders, the High Court has deferred the next hearing until after the summer vacation. Until then, no construction activities can take place on the allocated land.
