HYDERABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a ₹9,000 crore railway budget for Andhra Pradesh, representing a tenfold increase compared to allocations between 2004 and 2014. This significant boost is part of a comprehensive ₹58,000 crore infrastructure initiative aimed at accelerating the state’s development.
During his visit to Amaravati on May 2, PM Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated 94 projects encompassing capital city institutions, national highways, railway upgrades, and defence-related installations. Notably, ₹49,000 crore has been earmarked for 74 projects under the Amaravati greenfield capital construction, including the assembly, secretariat, high court buildings, and judicial residential quarters.
Emphasising the central government’s commitment, PM Modi stated, “Today, the railway budget for Andhra Pradesh is more than ₹9,000 crore, over 10 times than what it was between 2004-14.”
Highlighting Amaravati’s potential, he remarked, “Amaravati will become a leading city for IT, AI, green energy, education, and health in the future.”
The Prime Minister also acknowledged Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s capability in executing large-scale projects efficiently, expressing confidence in the state’s trajectory towards becoming a growth engine for ‘Viksit Bharat’
This substantial investment underscores the central government’s focus on enhancing infrastructure, fostering economic growth, and realising the vision of a developed Andhra Pradesh.
