Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has accused opposition parties of running a “poisonous campaign” against the BJP over the Kaleshwaram irrigation project. He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent comments on the project represent the official line of the BJP.
Modi, in office for 12 years, had said the project had become “like an ATM for the former Chief Minister KCR’s family”, Sanjay recalled. He insisted BJP demands a CBI inquiry into the Kaleshwaram project.
Sanjay called attention to remarks made during the last elections by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who had alleged corruption in the Kaleshwaram scheme and demanded a CBI probe.
He further alleged that the project has failed to serve any public utility. Sanjay accused detractors of spreading misinformation that the BJP had softened its stance or colluded with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. He reiterated his assertion that the Kaleshwaram initiative is “a completely corrupt project”.
