JEDDAH: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday for a two-day official visit, marking his first trip to the Kingdom during his third term in office. His aircraft landed in Jeddah at 3:20 PM IST, where he was welcomed with full state honours, including a ceremonial 21-gun salute.
In a display of high-level security and diplomatic regard, Saudi fighter jets escorted the Prime Minister’s aircraft as it entered Saudi airspace—a gesture reserved for select visiting heads of state.
This visit comes at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), signalling the continued strengthening of strategic ties between India and Saudi Arabia. During his visit, PM Modi is expected to hold high-level talks with the Crown Prince and other key officials, focusing on energy cooperation, trade, investment, and regional security.
