Hyderabad: Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar expressed deep grief over the death of Sangareddy constable Kothari Sandeep Kumar, who died by suicide after becoming addicted to online betting. He said the tragedy underlined how dangerous online gambling had become, even affecting those meant to raise public awareness about it.
Sajjanar said it was painful to see a police officer, responsible for guiding others, fall victim to the same menace. “Betting destroys lives. This incident reminds everyone of its devastating impact,” he said.

The 23-year-old constable was posted at the Sangareddy Police Station. He reportedly became trapped in debt after losing money through online gaming and betting. Police said Sandeep lived with his sister in Sangareddy town and had joined the force only a year ago.
Sajjanar urged the public to treat life’s struggles with strength and not resort to suicide. “No challenge is permanent. One must face hardships courageously instead of giving up,” he said.
Family members said Sandeep had been under stress in recent weeks. His death has left his family and colleagues in shock and sorrow.
