Hyderabad: Armoor police launched surprise raids on illegal moneylenders in Armoor municipal town and Surbiryal village on Saturday. SHO Satyanarayana Goud led teams that searched houses and offices of operators accused of running usury without permissions.
Police said the raids targeted lenders allegedly charging unlawful interest and operating without licences. Teams seized key documents linked to illegal lending from multiple locations during the operation.
Armoor police raids widen across town and mandal
Officials said searches began in the morning and would continue across the municipal limits and mandal through Saturday evening. The action covered Rajaram Nagar, Mahalakshmi Colony, Premier area, and lanes near Varsha Apartments, in addition to Surbiryal.
The operation triggered panic among alleged operators, who feared unannounced inspections at any time. Residents reported heightened activity around suspected premises as police teams moved between addresses.
Police said they were cataloguing seized records and verifying complaints from borrowers. Further legal action would follow after scrutiny of documents and testimonies.
