Hyderabad: Telangana Irrigation Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy reviewed land acquisition progress for the Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project with senior officials. He urged them to resolve pending issues quickly and speed up the process.
The minister directed the Revenue Department to compile a full record of land allocations made over the last forty years. He asked officials to specify how those lands were used and outline their present condition. Besides this, he told them to include all post-bifurcation changes, transfers, and cancellations in the report.
Ponguleti accelerates land transfer for Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project
Reddy instructed the Revenue and Forest Departments to jointly prepare a report on land exchanges between them. Both departments, he said, must complete the 1,138-acre forest land transfer in Khammam district without delay.
He reminded the team about 1,030 acres once allotted to the Keshavapuram Drinking Water Scheme but later cancelled by the government. Officials, he added, should assess whether that land can now support the Sitarama project. Warning against complacency, the minister made it clear that unnecessary delays would attract strict action.
The meeting drew participation from the Revenue Secretary, Forest and Environment Principal Secretary, PCCF, and Metro Water Works MD. Ponguleti told them to coordinate closely, hold daily reviews, and finish all land-related work on time.
