Hyderabad: Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the schedule for local body elections will be released by the end of this month. The matter will be discussed in the cabinet meeting scheduled for Monday.
According to him, elections for MPTC and ZPTC positions will be conducted first. These will be followed by polls for sarpanch and municipal bodies. He asked local leaders to ensure smooth coordination in their respective areas during the poll period.
He said leaders must give priority to resolving public issues. With limited time available, they were asked to address smaller deficiencies in their villages and get ready for the elections.
Srinivas Reddy said that candidate selection would be based on reservation-linked chances of winning. He noted that several welfare schemes had already reached the intended beneficiaries.
He also said that within the coming week, eligible farmers would receive payments under the Rythu Bharosa and seasonal cultivation bonus schemes. The funds will be transferred directly to bank accounts based on acreage.
He added that local leaders were also responsible for ensuring that Indiramma housing was not only sanctioned but fully completed for all qualified beneficiaries.
