Hyderabad: Telangana Minister for Revenue, Housing, and Information & Public Relations Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Wednesday directed officials to ensure that all decisions related to journalist welfare benefit genuine working journalists.
He reviewed key issues concerning media professionals in a meeting held at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat. Press Academy Chairman K. Srinivas Reddy, I&PR Special Commissioner Ch. Priyanka, and CPRRO G. Malsur also participated in the session.
Focus on accreditation, health policy, and journalist safety
The review focused on multiple policy areas, including the accreditation policy, health insurance for journalists, annual journalism awards, and attacks against media personnel. The status of the High-Power Committee set up to examine such issues also came under discussion.
The minister emphasised that future decisions must prioritise transparency and credibility. He further directed the department to coordinate with the Labour, Health, Home, and Finance departments.
Officials resolved to hold a follow-up meeting with these departments shortly to finalise the next steps.
