Hyderabad: Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Monday said the Telangana government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is committed to journalist welfare. He directed officials to prepare rules so all eligible journalists receive accreditation cards without delay.

At Dr B R Ambedkar Secretariat, the minister chaired a review with senior officials and Press Academy representatives. The meeting focused on accreditation policy, health cover for journalists, state-level awards and the high-power committee on media attacks.
According to Ponguleti, the government will take strong steps to stop assaults. He also announced plans to revive the high-power committee first notified in undivided Andhra Pradesh in 2008. Earlier governments in Telangana, he said, failed to act on it after state formation.
He further stated that the state will restore the tripartite committee on salaries and service conditions. In addition, he asked the Aarogyasri department to identify the best insurance policy for journalists.
Officials will also launch a website for accreditation card applications. Moreover, the minister supported Press Academy Chairman Srinivas Reddy’s request to reinstate state-level awards.
Aarogyasri CEO Uday Kumar, Additional Labour Commissioner Gangadhar and other senior officers attended the meeting.
