HYDERABAD: BRS leader Ponnala Lakshmaiah has strongly criticized the Congress government in Telangana for its handling of agricultural issues and unfulfilled electoral promises. Speaking to the media on Friday, Lakshmaiah accused the government of politicizing assembly proceedings while neglecting the plight of farmers whose crops are withering due to inadequate support. He highlighted that reservoirs, if properly managed, could hold up to nine TMCs of water, yet the government has failed to undertake necessary measures to ensure this capacity. Instead, Congress leaders are focusing on discrediting the BRS party rather than addressing pressing agricultural concerns.
Lakshmaiah further criticized the Congress government for its failure to fulfill several key electoral promises, including:
– Providing ₹2,500 monthly assistance to women.
– Distributing scooters to eligible beneficiaries.
– Creating employment opportunities for the unemployed.
– Implementing full-scale farm loan waivers.
– Properly executing the Rythu Bharosa scheme.
– Allocating ₹12,000 to agricultural laborers.
He accused the Congress of making impractical promises solely to gain power and warned that the electorate would hold the party accountable in the upcoming elections.
