Hyderabad: Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Sunday instructed RTC officials to ensure hassle-free travel for Dasara-bound passengers by strengthening on-ground arrangements. He announced RTC would operate Dasara special buses across Telangana.
He held a teleconference with senior officials to discuss the festive rush. During the meeting, he stressed that people travelling home for Saddula Bathukamma and Dussehra must not face transport issues.
Ponnam asked officials to focus on high-traffic locations such as Uppal, LB Nagar, and Aramgarh. He directed them to appoint special officers at major bus stations. Additionally, he told TGSRTC to run more buses based on real-time crowd levels.
He instructed senior staff—including RMs, Deputy RMs, and DMs—to remain in the field. They must coordinate with 97 depots and 340 bus stations to manage operations effectively.
RTC to operate 7,754 Dasara special buses across Telangana
Officials informed the Minister that TGSRTC would operate 7,754 special buses during the festival period. They expect a surge in passengers starting this Saturday.
Saddula Bathukamma falls on September 30, and Dussehra on October 2. To meet demand, officials said special buses would begin running ahead of the weekend. Ponnam asked them to monitor rush levels closely and adjust services accordingly.
