Hyderabad: In a public outreach effort, Minister and MLA Ponnam Prabhakar joined residents of Husnabad town for a morning walk on Thursday, using the occasion to hear civic grievances and promote plastic-free practices.
During the walk, the Minister interacted with locals, discussing several civic issues on the spot. He immediately spoke to relevant officials on matters raised by citizens.
Later, he participated in a plastic awareness programme organised by municipal authorities, warning of the environmental and health hazards of single-use plastics.
He congratulated the municipal team on Husnabad Municipality securing 139th rank nationally in the Swachh Survekshan 2024–25, 9th rank in the state among 150 municipalities, and 1st in the district. The municipality was also certified ODF++.
Ponnam reiterated his push for Steel Banks as an alternative to plastic in social events. “We’re distributing stainless steel utensils village by village. Use steel items in weddings and ceremonies instead of plastic,” he said.
He also visited the Husnabad Government Hospital, where he interacted with patients and inquired about medical services and infrastructure.
