Hyderabad: Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Sunday accused opposition parties of plotting to destabilise the Telangana Praja Palana government barely a month after it took office with the people’s blessings.
Speaking at Gandhi Bhavan, Prabhakar alleged that opposition leaders were making baseless predictions that the government would collapse soon, calling it a deliberate conspiracy to spread fear.
He said attempts were being made to provoke government employees, who have been actively addressing public welfare issues and moving the state forward.
Prabhakar described employees as pillars of democracy, noting that the previous ten-year administration had failed to deliver despite a 75-year legacy of NGOs.
He added that even in the current financial crisis, the government was demonstrating practical results, and stressed that the decisions taken by the government were being implemented by the same employees, with their inputs respected.
He also attacked the previous government for running the state with an autocratic style and pushing Telangana into debt. People were observing those failures, he remarked.
Accusing opposition parties of acting irresponsibly and damaging the state like “enemy forces,” Prabhakar warned that if any problem arose in neighbouring states, the opposition would still join hands there.
He demanded to know what these leaders had actually done for Telangana’s interests and said they were acting recklessly, which cost them public trust and electoral support. In future, he said, people would make sure to sideline such leaders altogether.
Earlier, Ponnam Prabhakar, along with former PCC President V Hanumantha Rao and other leaders paid rich tributes to former PCC President D Srinivas on his first death anniversary.
