HYDERABAD: State Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has addressed concerns regarding the availability of drinking water, asserting that there is no cause for alarm. He highlighted that the Lower Manair and Mid Manair dams currently hold sufficient water reserves to meet both drinking and irrigation needs. Specifically, the Lower Manair Dam contains 5.7 TMC (thousand million cubic feet) of water, while the Mid Manair Dam holds 9.48 TMC. These levels are higher compared to the same period last year, indicating an improved water reserve situation.
Minister Prabhakar emphasized that approximately 6.9 TMC of water is required to supply drinking water to Karimnagar Municipality and Mission Bhagiratha until July 31. To ensure this, around 3 TMC of water will be released from the Mid Manair Dam to the Lower Manair Dam, resulting in a total reserve of 8.7 TMC in the Lower Manair Dam. This strategy aims to secure adequate drinking water supply for the region.
He also addressed claims made by certain individuals regarding potential drinking water shortages, dismissing them as unnecessary and misleading. Minister Prabhakar urged the public not to be misled by such statements, reiterating that the government has implemented measures to ensure a continuous and sufficient supply of drinking water.
